Americans prefer to hang out with football players than movie stars

A new study just published by Badoo in the US reveals that, given the choice, your average American would much rather spend some quality time with Denver Broncos’ Quarterback Tim Tebow than with George Clooney.

And Clooney is not the only hunk left behind by Tebow; Bradley Cooper, who was recently voted “Sexiest Man Alive” by People magazine, only got 4% of the votes, compared to 30% for Tebow. In spite (or perhaps because of?) recent controversy, Charlie Sheen proved as popular as Cooper, also with 4%.

And poor Ryan Gosling. He's having a bad day – snubbed at the Oscar nominations and snubbed in our survey! Even his Internet fame can't help him when it comes to facing off against Oscar nominees George Clooney and Brad Pitt, trailing behind with just 6% of the vote.

Since 2012 is an election year in America, it’s not surprising that even this survey showed a split along political lines: While Democrats would most prefer to hang out with George Clooney, Republicans overwhelmingly chose Tebow.

When it comes to fantasy celeb friends, even Brad Pitt trails behind the American Footballer with a modest 20% of Americans picking him.Understandably, though, amongst women George Clooney proved to be a lot more popular, with an even split at 24% each for him and Tim Tebow.

We all imagine what it would be like to have a celebrity BFF from time to time, but these results show that we might be surprised at who people actually choose.

Which famous person would you choose as your best friend? Let us know!
